East Devon Eagles met Somerset Vikings in a top of the table clash and were jubilant with a superb 48- 20 victory after their defeat earlier in the season.
The weather conditions were atrocious all afternoon with gale force winds and driving rain but both teams braved the elements to the end.

Vikings were first on the scoresheet 5 minutes in with an unconverted try from Chris Richards. Eagles Jonny Boltrukiewicz levelled the score on 15 minutes with a try wide out but the conversion was unsuccessful.
Vikings went ahead on 20 minutes with a Mark Lees try that he also converted but this seemed to spur the Eagles on and they scored 3 tries before the half hour. Garry Hooper took the ball on and barged through the Vikings defence to touchdown under the posts, Cadywould adding the extras. Sean Lovett passed the ball to Olly Turton who dummied and passed on to James Holman who ran in near the posts, again Cadywould converting and on the half hour, Hooper scored his second try when Cadywould kicked the ball across field, Vikings misjudged the bounce and Hooper scooped up the ball to touchdown in the corner, but again the wind took the conversion kick wide.
Tit for tat tries followed with Vikings Joe Bussell scoring from Eagles missed tackles, Lees converting and Eagles Lovett passed the ball inside to Tony Emmins who weaved through to go over wide out, Cadywould kicking the goal, to give the Eagles a 26 – 16 lead at the break.
Straight from the re-start, Eagles Richard Sharp crashed over the line, Cadywould adding the extras and another 2 Eagles tries in the next 20 minutes put victory in sight. On 15 minutes, James Holman gathered a loose ball and sprinted up the touchline from inside his own half, with Cadywould in support. Spurred on by the crowd, Holman went over the line but the difficult conversion missed.

Cadywould put the Eagles further ahead with an individual try from an elusive run baffling the Vikings defence and diving over the line under the posts, kicking his own conversion.
Vikings managed an unconverted try fron Jason Holmwood when the Eagles concentration slipped, but just before the final whistle, Eagles Sharp powered through the Vikings defence to score his second try, Cadywould converting, giving a final score 48-20 to the Eagles when referee Mike Muir blew for time.
The Eagles must take pride in this performance today which keeps them at the top of the South West Conference League. There was sterling defensive work around the field by Emmins, Sharp, Hooper and Darren Bowden and superb attacking play by Cadywould, Man of Steel Lovett and Andy Melbourne, but this was a great all round performance by the whole team.
Player Coach Tony Emmins is confident that the East Devon Eagles will do the double in both the league and the Devon Cup.
